In the process of using PPT, file loss may occur in several cases:

1. Unexpected deletion or loss of PPT files;

2. Close the powerpoint application without saving the PPT.

In these two cases, there are differences in the way to restore PPT. The second method is more complicated than the first and has a lower success rate. This article will guide you through the possible recovery methods.

Part 2. How to retrieve unsaved PPTs on a Mac

My computer failed, and the worst thing was that I lost a PPT document that took me a week to complete. To be specific, last night when I was making a PPT file on my Mac, the computer suddenly crashed, and I had no choice but to forcibly quit and restart the computer. However, the tragedy happened. After restarting the computer, I couldn't find the PPT. I thought that even if I didn't save it, the Mac would automatically save the file, but it didn't. How can I restore this unsaved PPT? Ask for advice!

In view of the above situation, we provide two feasible ways to help you recover unsaved Microsoft Office PowerPoint files.

Method 1. Find unsaved PPT files from the AutoRecover folder

After the system crashed, users can restore PPT files through the AutoRecover folder. AutoRecovery is a built-in feature of Office that automatically saves the edited PPT every 10 minutes. Therefore, users can find PPT backups. Generally speaking, after the system hangs up, restarting the computer to open Microsoft Office will restore the previously edited PPT. You only need to save the file to your Mac. If the PPT cannot be opened on the Mac, please follow the steps below to manually find the AutoRecover folder:

Step 1. Click Go>Go to Folder.

Step 2. Input/Users/Library/Containers/com. Microsoft.

Powerpoint/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery.

Step 3. Find the desired file, open it with Microsoft Office and save it to your Mac.

Notice: If you select Cancel when the system prompts you to save the PPT file when restarting Microsoft Office, it will determine that you do not need the file, and then the automatically saved file will be deleted in the background. In this case, we can't help you get it back.

Method 2. Restore the unsaved ppt from the Temp folder

Step 1. Go to Application>Tool Program>Double-click Terminal.

Step 2. On the terminal, input "open $TMPDIR" and go to the TMP folder.

Step 3. Find and open the folder named "TemporaryItems" in the TMP folder. Next, click on the unsaved PPT file and open it with Microsoft PowerPoint.

Step 4. Click File>Save As to save the file.

If neither of the above two methods can help you restore the unsaved PPT, there may be no other way to restore it. To avoid this happening again, it is recommended that you develop a good habit of saving files.
